Media Advocacy is the strategic use of media as a resource for advancing social or public policy initiatives.  Our particular focus is video advocacy, the use of video to advocate for a cause or express a viewpoint.

Video can be more effective than brochures, billboards and newsletters in communicating with your target audience.  Unlike written formats, video can provide both verbal and non-verbal messages (visual and paralinguistic) that are informative and persuasive.

CRA-NC's Media Advocacy Services has the ability to create videos that are not as expensive as many other video companies. We offer creativity and affordability.  We use digital video, which is far less expensive than traditional formats.

We believe educational videos should be engaging and entertaining, as well as informative.  People need to remember the information conveyed, and they can only do so if the program offers some sense of memory recall - something that sticks in folks' minds.

We are not a production company.  We produce videos, but our goal is to use them to advance a particular set of social issues or messages.

"Payday Lending -
The Musical"

CRA-NC created this video to educate borrowers about the dangers of the payday lending debt trap. The video aired on stations across North Carolina in June of 2003.  The video takes an entertaining non-traditional approach by including youth and CRA-NC staff members in a 12-minute "rap" musical.  CRA-NC also used the video as a means to organize Ohio non-profits around the payday lending issue.

Buying a
Manufactured Home

This 30 minute consumer education video provides a step by step look at the homebuying process. The video includes a participatory audience "field trip" to the factory and the dealership. The program also provides information of negotiating price and proper financing of a home.
